A gamified global sports betting experience

Challenge

Sportlocker is a community that was born in England and is passionate about sports, where fans share emotions, opinions and knowledge about everything related to sports.

The company decided to open a sports betting vertical for a wide range of sports and make it available in several Latin American countries, mainly Brazil.

Our challenge was to design a new experience, in desktop format, that could stand out from so many competitors, bringing new features and gamification elements.

The Process

With the support of a team of client specialists, the project underwent a major immersion in the world of betting and sports to better understand users' browsing expectations.

We carried out a series of design activities during the research phase: benchmarking, brainstorming workshops, studies on the legal aspects of betting, card sorting of features, among others.

A series of interviews with professional and amateur bettors paved the way for this new platform, which was supposed to balance betting with live game statistics.

And, as it is a betting platform, for the most diverse sports, it was necessary to create components that could adapt to different types of events, providing information in real time and containing their specific statistics.

Results

At the end of a long process with the development team, so that we could understand the platform limitations, we designed all the screens for the main flows and also delivered the documentation for a mini Design System that included tokens and the main components of the platform.

The project took about 2 months, reducing the expected launch date by 4 months.
